5 Amazing November Events Not To Miss in New Haven

Even though you’re close to Yale and all that Downtown New Haven offers, you may know that this is a smaller city. What can you really do to have fun? The area has a lot of things going on most months, including in November. You are sure to find a wide range of things to participate in throughout the city and area.

Here are some recommendations to help you get started.

Strange Times: Photos Capture COVID-Era New Haven

Check out the Stranger Times: Photos Capture COVID-Era New Haven event. This is a new exhibit that’s on display at the New Haven Museum. It features Roderick Topping’s images, which are nothing short of striking, during the turbulent times we live in. The photos were taken documenting life in the city during the pandemic. For many people, this is an eye-opening look at how much the world changed during the pandemic.

The event is being managed with limited access, but you can sign up for free. If you have yet to visit the New Haven Museum, it’s worth doing so for any of the exhibits and the library on hand.

Yale NHV Walking Tour

When was the last time you did an actual walking tour of the area? Perhaps when you first arrived on campus? The Yale NHV Walking Tour is an excellent way to learn about the area and get ideas on what’s nearby. Fitstyle sponsors the event by Shana, with Shana Schneider, a Yale alum herself, as the guide. It takes about 60 minutes to complete this walk and it’s only about 2 miles. Yet, along the way, you are sure to learn a great deal about the area and the campus. You’ll learn about the various iconic buildings and the numerous historical sites around the area. There are several art installations that you can ask questions about, too. It’s not the average tour.

You’ll be able to embrace all that the area has to offer, including its rich history.

Wooster Square CitySeed Farmers' Market

When it comes to current events, you may not have thought about a visit to the local market, but doing so is an excellent reason to get out, see the area, and pick up some nutritious food. The 2021 Weekend Farmers Market is still taking place through November 21st. You can visit, explore all of the good food and interesting artisan items while walking around outdoors. If you find foods that you love from some of the vendors, you can also easily pre-order from them throughout the winter months. Go ahead and explore the farmer’s market now before it gets too cold to do so.

College Street Music Hall Events

Some of the best current events happening at the College Street Music Hall. There is a list of performers, artists, and others taking the stage this November. You may not want to miss them. That includes:

  • Fortune Feimster: 2 Sweet 2 Salty Tour 2021 on November 2, 2021
  • Noah Kahan: I Was / I Am Tour on November 7th
  • The Psychedelic Furs November 9th
  • Sylvan Esso: Shaking Out the Numb Tour on Nov 10
  • Back to the Eighties Show with Jessie’s Girl on November 20
  • 3 Chambers Tour: Raekwon X Ghostface Killah Z GZA on November 26

There’s much more to explore, too. There is surely something for most people here.

Play for Shay

Another of the current events taking place is the annual Play for Shay event. Shaylin Massella was a former Yale billiards employee. Each year, Yale Billiards hosts a charity tournament in her name for JDRF. Even if you never met her, it is still beneficial to come out and play. You can help to raise money and also have some fun meeting other Billiards players.

Which of these current events is something you are looking forward to this November? If you haven’t found something that interests you here, be sure to check out the school’s engagement and activity board. There is sure to be a lot planned for the holidays, too.

While Yale in November is typically about heavy studying, getting out and exploring all the city has to offer can be a good way for you to learn about the area and meet new people.
